August 6th, 2009 Consider an Anti-Inflammatory Diet
Check your pH, try to keep it between 6.5 and 7.0. Drink plenty of pure water. Chlorine and fluoride are toxins. Chlorine acts as an antibiotic and can diminish the friendly flora in our gut. Chlorine has also been associated with some forms of cancer. Decrease or eliminate red meat and dairy products. Some arthritis patients also seem to react to poultry. Decrease of eliminate refined sugar. Increase your consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. These should be raw, or lightly steamed. Good food choices include: apples, grapes, mangos, papaya, peaches, pears, prunes, kiwis and other sub-acid fruits. If you are diabetic watch the glycemic content of the fruit and never drink fruit juices. Good vegetables include: asparagus, spinach, zucchini, parsley, artichoke, kelp and other sea vegetables, okra, snow peas, and many more. Cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, cauliflower, as well as onions, garlic, chives, and peppers are very nutritious but may create digestive problems for some people. The solutions is often simply chewing the food better and possibly adding digestive enzymes. Eliminate caffeine (including coffee, black tea, cola drinks and chocolate). Eliminate any food allergens during the initial three or four weeks such as gluten grains, citrus fruit, and night shade vegetables (tomatoes, white and red potatoes, red and green peppers, eggplant, paprika, and all forms of tobacco). These foods can be added back into the diet one at a time (try one new food every third day) while carefully observing the effect. For snacks, consider raw vegetables, whole fruit, nuts and seeds. The fruits and vegetables contain lots of enzymes, bioflavonoids, and other phyto chemicals, while the RAW nuts and seeds are rich in essential fatty acids, especially flax seed, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, walnuts and almonds. Raw seeds like sesame and flax seed need to be ground for proper digestion. An electric coffee grinder works well. These healthy snacks can be combine; for example raw vegetable sticks dipped in tahini (ground sesame) or almond butter. Most people find eating this way will lower blood lipids, smooth out blood sugar problems, and helps with weight management, reduces digestive problems, increases energy and provides an overall sense of well being.
